Locations Management

Location management in LocalZen is a key feature that allows for quick and easy information updates across Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Bing Maps. Even if your business has multiple locations, you can manage all locations in one place, saving time and preventing errors.

Editing location data in LocalZen can be done in two ways:

  • Individually – within the view of a specific location.

  • Bulk – for multiple locations simultaneously using mass editing.

The scope of editable data is the same for both methods.

1. Individual Location Editing

To update information for a single location, select the "See details" button. Within the location details, you can edit all administrative data. Simply click the pencil icon to enable editable fields. After making changes, save them by selecting the "Save" button.

2. Bulk Location Editing

One of the most significant benefits is the ability to make collective changes to many locations at once. You can simultaneously edit information such as:

  • Opening hours (including special hours, e.g., for holidays),

  • Phone numbers,

  • Location attributes,

  • Descriptions and other administrative data.

From your list of locations, select multiple items or click "Select all," then click the purple "Edit" button. This will take you to mass editing. Here, choose the fields you wish to modify, make your changes, and then click the "Save" button in the top right corner to send the updates.

Note: You can edit multiple fields at once; data is only sent to the locations after you click the "Save" button.

3. Field Descriptions and Applications in LocalZen

Primary Business Category

Defines your main industry or business type. This is crucial for helping Google's algorithms match your business to customer queries. It is best to choose a specific category (e.g., "Sporting goods store" instead of "Store").

⚠️ Important:

Adding or editing categories may prompt Google to ask for re-verification. To minimize this risk: Categories define what a business is, not what it does. Describe the entity rather than listing services or amenities. Focus on the most specific matching category (e.g., "Pizza delivery" instead of "Delivery restaurant").

Additional Business Categories

These allow you to indicate other areas of operation that complement the primary category. They help your profile appear in searches for products or services not covered by the main category.

These are only visible to Google's algorithms and do not appear directly on the location to users.

Contact

This field is used for the website URL and phone number visible to customers.

  • Phone Number 2: This can be filled, but the number is currently not displayed on Google Maps or used by Google's algorithms.

Labels

Labels are for internal organization within the Google Business Profile only. They are not visible to users and are not used to group locations within LocalZen unless you specifically choose to create a group based on them.

Opening Hours

Set standard operating hours for each day of the week. Mark days as "Closed" where applicable.

Special Opening Hours

Use this for exceptions like holidays or one-off events. This allows you to update the location without changing your permanent schedule. You can also set split hours for days requiring temporary closures (e.g., for inventory).

More Hours

Add specific hours for services such as:

  • Delivery

  • Happy hour

  • Pickup

Opening and Closing a Location

Toggle status between: Open, Permanently Closed, or Temporarily Closed.

  • Temporarily Closed: Useful for renovations or vacations. The location remains searchable.

  • Permanently Closed: Use only if the location has ceased operations. It makes the location much harder to find in search.

Google Business Profile Status

  • Verified: Confirms authenticity; data can be fully synced.

  • Inactive/Other: May limit functionality. For LocalZen to work correctly, locations should maintain a "Verified" status.

Other

Includes the Opening Date and the Location Description (up to 750 characters). Use keywords here to improve SEO.

URL Attributes

Add links for specific actions like online reservations, ordering, or social media profiles.

Pro Tip: Use UTM parameters to track traffic from your location in Google Analytics.

Location Attributes

Features like accessibility (wheelchair ramp), payment options (credit cards), or service options (in-store pickup). These are predefined by Google.

Services

Describe specific services (e.g., "On-site repair"). If a service isn't listed, use the "Add custom service" option.

Map Status

Shows sync status between LocalZen and platforms like Google, Bing, and Apple Maps. "Connection active. Location verified" means data is correctly synchronized.

4. Bulk Update via CSV/XLS File

For large-scale edits, you can upload a file. The file must include the store_code column for identification.

Column

Description

store_code

Unique store code (required).

opening_hours

Standard hours.

special_hours_replace

Hours that overwrite the standard schedule.

special_hours_add

Hours added to the existing schedule.

Time Formatting Examples:

  • Standard: Mon-Fri 08:00-16:00; Sat 08:00-13:00; Sun closed

  • Single day: 01-11-2021 - 08:00-16:00

  • Multiple days: 01-11-2021 - 08:00-16:00; 31-12-2021 - 08:00-16:00

  • Closed: 01-01-2022 - closed

Send completed files to [email protected] for processing.

5. Location Groups

Create groups based on regions, product range, or marketing campaigns. This allows for:

  • Mass posting of updates/photos to specific groups.

  • Targeted data analysis.

  • Granting user access to specific locations.

5.1 - 5.3 Creating and Adding to Groups

You can add locations Manually (selecting from the account) or Via File (uploading a CSV of store codes). When uploading a file, you can choose to "Add to group" or "Overwrite group."

5.4 Groups from GMB Labels

If you have labels in Google Business Profile, click the three dots in the Groups tab and select "Add new group from GMB labels."

6. Disconnecting Locations

To remove a location from LocalZen, select the three dots and click "Disconnect from LocalZen."

  • This does not delete the location from Google Maps or Google Business Profile.

  • ⚠️ Warning: Disconnecting results in the loss of historical "User Behavior" stats older than 18 months if you decide to re-import later.
