How to remove (report) a review from a Google Maps Business Profile

This article outlines the steps you should take to remove a review from your Google Maps Business profile

Google does not allow Business Profile owners to directly remove reviews from their Business Profile - you can only report them for removal by the Google team.

The instructions below describe the steps you should take to effectively respond to an unfair or false review on Google Maps and report it to Google Support for removal. Reporting such reviews helps protect a business’s reputation and eliminate reviews that mislead users.

  1. Respond to the review, referring to Google’s guidelines

    1. Find the review on Google Maps

    2. Respond to it professionally, indicating which Google guidelines have been violated. You can find the full list here: Google’s content guidelines for reviews

    3. Indicate the specific reason for reporting the review, for example:

      1. Fake engagement – suspicion that the review was posted by a competitor or a bot

      2. False information – the review contains false allegations that do not correspond to reality

      3. Misleading users – the review does not reflect the actual experiences of customers

  2. Report the review through Google Maps

    1. Open Google Maps and find your business’s Business Profile

    2. Go to the reviews section and find the review you want to report

    3. Click the “⋮” (three dots) icon next to the review and select “Report review”

    4. In the report, select which Google guidelines the review violates

    5. Submit the report

  3. If there is still no response from Google after a few days – report the issue through the “Help” section in Google Business Profile

    1. Go to your Google Business Profile

      1. Select Help > Contact support team

        1. You can also go directly to the form using this link - submit a ticket

      2. Indicate the specific Business Profile the issue is related to

      3. Describe the situation in detail – include:

        1. A link to the review

        2. Screenshots of the review and your response

        3. An indication that the review violates specific Google guidelines

💡 It is best to submit the report in English. As a rule, Google reviews reports submitted in English more quickly. In the report, you can add, for example: "This review violates Google’s content policies as it includes false engagement/misleading information. After verifying with the manager, we confirm that no such incidents have occurred. Additionally, the reviewer’s profile shows minimal activity, which may indicate inauthentic behavior.”

  4. Monitor the status of the report

    1. Google typically responds within a few days

    2. If the review is not removed, you can contact Google Support again and request another verification

    3. If necessary, you can flag the issue through the official Google support forums: Google Accounts Help Community
